Job Summary

Performs routine and skilled duties in support of tutoring services (80%) and library services (20%) under general supervision with minimal latitude for personal decision-making.

Job Duties:

  • Assist daily tutoring operations with direction from supervisor:
  • Assist the Director with tutoring schedules and student referrals.
  • Serve as the primary contact for tutoring services.
  • Support tutor onboarding and communication.
  • Maintain tutoring resources, records, and utilization data.
  • Promote tutoring services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide embedded tutoring support for students:
  • Offer tutoring appointments for students on campus or virtually; in-person class visits or coordinate group tutoring sessions
  • Assists with the maintenance/creation of online tutoring/library guides and tutorials on the library/tutoring website with guidance from supervisor.
  • Assists with campus library collection maintenance: Perform occasional inventory checks of reference material and ensure orderly maintenance of shelves.
  • Assist students with printing or computer use as needed. Participate in KCTCS or GCTC level projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in tutoring, academic support, student services, or a related field.
  • Experience tutoring college-level coursework.
  • Strong customer service, student engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to support and engage students from diverse cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to coordinate schedules, appointments, referrals, and student support services.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and managing data.
  • Ability to handle confidential student information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms and virtual communication tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a library, learning center, community college, or other higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of library services, research resources, information literacy practices, and student support services.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and delivering online instructional materials, tutorials, guides, and other educational content.
  • Familiarity with tutoring management systems, online scheduling platforms, and student success technologies.
  • Strong presentation, training, and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience promoting academic support services, student success initiatives, and campus resources.
  • Ability to analyze program utilization and performance data and prepare reports to support assessment, continuous improvement, and informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student learning and engagement through innovative instructional methods and resource development.

Additional Skills Requested:

This position may be considered for a discretionary hybrid work arrangement following the successful completion of the probationary period. Approval of any hybrid schedule is contingent upon supervisory authorization, alignment with institutional operational needs, and adherence to a maximum of one (1) remote workday per week.
